Cultivate Intangibles

Launched in 2020, ONICA aims to enhance the inner world and presence of those closest to us.

We project everyday, evocative experiences into our craftsmanship to create clothing that leaves a lasting impression—garments that will be cherished for generations to come.

A process unique to knitwear, encompassing everything from design to material selection, knit structure, and styling. We carefully attend to every step of this process as we collaborate with Japanese knitters to create and present a new collection once a year.

Designer

Akino Kurosawa – Born in Niigata, raised in Yamanashi.

After graduating from Tama Art University with a major in Textile Design, she completed a graduate program in Fashion Design at Aalto University in Finland.

Discover knitwear that is deeply rooted in everyday life in Finland.

While a student, she was selected as a finalist in the Yale International Fashion Festival. She has presented her work at Helsinki Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, the Finnish Embassy in Beijing, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, and other venues.

After returning to Japan and gaining experience at a knitwear design company, she launched ONICA in 2020.
