As the name "Yukiwa" suggests, this pattern was created from the shape of snowflakes. It has been used since ancient times, when it was discovered that snowflakes are hexagonal.
It's strange that it was used as a pattern before anyone knew about it. I wonder why the person who first saw snow under a microscope decided to look at it under a microscope.
